The
perfect setting...
The High/Scope Conference Center is located on 450 acres of beautiful
rolling terrain in rural, Southeast Michigan. The Conference Center is a
30 minute drive from Ann Arbor, less than an hour from Detroit Metro
Airport (DTW) and one hour north of Toledo.
The facility features two country estates, a renovated recreation barn, and two
houses that serve as additional dormitories, for a total sleeping capacity of
112. The mansions, designed by a Detroit architect in the mid-1920s, feature
several large meeting spaces, each with a large fireplace and windows with
scenic views. The campus also maintains a dining hall and full kitchen.
The grounds are secluded from the nearest road, and privacy is further
enhanced by several acres of trees. Iron Creek runs through the land, separating
the houses, and the creek has been diverted to create a picturesque waterfall.
The creek is crossed by several unique bridges designed and built by
participants in a teenage educational Institute.
Natural springs flow from the hillside and feed a small swimming pond.
The main recreation building is a remodeled barn featuring more than 7,000
square feet, stunning stained glass windows, and a hand-laid wood,
suspended, 35
ft. x 75 ft. dance floor.
The Conference Center has numerous uses. For nearly 40 years it has served
The Institute for IDEAS, a
month-long teenage educational program. Creative writers, singles groups, folk
dance clubs, and church groups have all made use of the Conference Center in
recent years. The Center's customized services can meet the needs of your
group.
